Rules applying to all segments of the race
Challenge Vichy sanctions are based on the FFTRI protocol.
Athletes are expected to follow directions and instructions from all race officials, race marshals and race management. Only race marshals have the authority to disqualify an athlete, but they are entitled to do so single-
Only a doctor have ultimate and final authority to remove an athlete from the race if the athlete is judged to be physically incapable of continuing the race without risk of serious injury or death.
No athletes may use alcohol or any illegal, detrimental or dangerous drugs, stimulants, depressants or other substances or procedures with intent to improve performance, eliminate the sense of fatigue or for any other purpose. Violation of this rule is grounds for immediate disqualification.
Fraud, theft, abusive treatment of volunteers or other acts of poor sportsmanship are grounds for immediate disqualification and will result in the athlete being suspended from any race in the Challenge Family race in the future.
If an athlete decides to withdraw from the race at any time, it is the athlete’s responsibility to report it to the race marshals.

Communication devices of any type are strictly prohibited during the competition.
Explanation of the penalty cards. The race officals can give a red, yellow or black card.
RED CARD; instant disqualification. Stop the race and give your number to the race official
o Innapropriate/ unsportsman like behaviour
o Bad behaviour towards officials, volenteers, spectators, organisers...
o Refusing to conform
o Number removed without possibility of change
o Cutting of, or cheating on the course
o Outside assistance
o Not respecting road rules (in particular cutting corners)
o Blatant drafting
o Supply of food/drink outside the zones provided
o Discarding rubbish outside the zones provided
RED CARD : given outside the race times -
o The time allowed to complete the course has passed
BLACK CARD : 6 minute penalty
o Drafting
YELLOW CARD : stop and go
Applicable for any fault that can be corrected. In the contrary case a disqualifying procedure will be applied.
Outside race times and/or non classified WITHOUT a red card
o Loss or absence of race number at finish
o The athlete was given more than 2 « Black cards »
o The athlete did not complete their penalties
No protest is authorized against a decision of disqualification on behalf of an offical.
CAUTION: The race officials are entitled to sanction a irregularity constantly.
Procedure of black card time penalty
1. The race official will put themself before the athlete, drawing attention while whistling and establishing a visual contact with the athlete, then call out the athletes number in French. The number will be read as double didgets (example; 2134 will be called as « 21 » -
If the athlete recieves a black card, the athlete will have to remain in the penalty zone for 6 minutes. If the athlete recieves a red card, the athlete is immediatly disqualified.
Receiving 3 black cards results in automatic disqualification.
2. It is responsibility for the athlete to go to the next zone of penalty and carry out their penalty there. If they do not do this, they will be automatically disqualified. If the athlete recieves a stop and go, the race official requires the athlete to come to a
complete stop, they will indicate the rule broken, then the athlete can resume their race.
Disqualifications. All the disqualifications will be registered on a table of information located at the bike check-
If an athlete decides to give up, it is their responsibility to announce it to a race official or the organizer and to return their number. It is not advised traversing the circuit in opposite direction to the race.
